Taking blog photos is always something that I have struggled with but I feel like lately I have been happier with my photos sessions. I found that when my photos turn out to be a little off, the most common problem is that there is a lot of open space in the shot. Adding small items that add interest and fill in the gaps is the answer to this problem - also what I call an organized mess. Here are some of my favourite things to use as props alongside some links to the items.
1. Candles // I have a bit of an obsession with candles so I can't not use them too. They are colourful items and come in various shapes and sizes. This gold pineapple one is my fave.
2. Flowers // It's always a good idea to add a bunch of flowers. The ones that I've been using lately are a white tulip bouquet*.
3. Plants // Cactuses (or cacti?) are my go to because they don't die on me when I forget to water them for about a month!
4. Notebooks // While they can be used to write notes in, they can also be put to use as a prop like this polka dot notebook.
5. Magazines // I use anything that happens to be at home and if I don't like the cover, I just flip through and find a page.
6. Clothing // Scarves, shirts, dresses...the list goes on.
7. Makeup Brushes // The bamboo brushes look so pretty in photos, as does this rose gold set.
8. Beauty Products // There are a lot of different items that I chuck into photos. In these I decided to use nail polish and bath salts.
9. Glitter // Pros: looks great in photos. Cons: Quite a task to clean up.
10. Makeup // Lipsticks, blushes, bronzers... I usually pick and choose according to the colour theme in the photo.
11. Coloured or patterned paper // This is great for when I feel like my photo looks a bit boring and I want to jazz it up.
12. Perfume bottles // I don't know what it is about perfume bottles but I love using them. My favourite is the Love etc bottle as I love the rose gold cap. Unfortunately it is no longer sold.
13. Plates // These are some of my favourite things to use as props. You can find a lot in different sizes and styles and are perfect for putting emphasis on a certain product.
14.Vases and pots // Great for placing in the background when it's looking a bit drab.
15. Jewellery // Anything from hoop earrings to rings to watches goes and don't be afraid to mix metals.

Your photos are gorgeous - loved this post too, I always struggle to know what to use as 'fillers' in some of my photos. Coloured or pattered paper is definitely a lifesaver for me and I LOVE that white tulip bouquet! xxx

I also struggle do find good props sometimes, when I do beauty posts. I used to have cacti and used them as a prop, and any other plant or flower would do! I'd never thought about using plates, but that's actually a great (and cheap) idea!
