Holiday Blues

I love to travel and usually plan a holiday at least once a year. Unfortunately, we are at a time when the only travelling we are doing is between the bedroom and the kitchen! Sad thoughts aside, this period of self-distancing has made me appreciate the fact that I have the opportunity to go on holiday and can visit such lovely places.

Since I cannot travel, I thought I would share the last places I visited since my last travel post on Lake Como. Hopefully seeing these pictures will either remind you of the memories of travelling to these places or inspire you to plan your next holiday.

Dublin - October 2019

My last holiday was back in October when I went up to Dublin for four days to visit my cousin who was on Erasmus in Ireland. I was very excited about this holiday for many reasons. Firstly, because we had been planning this for well over four months. Secondly, I had not seen my cousin in two months and third, we were actually going to see Little Mix live in concert. This also happened to be the first time I would be travelling alone. Although the four-hour flight there and back felt like they would never pass, I would definitely do it again!

The Little Mix concert was the highlight of my time in Dublin and I can confidently say that it was the best night of my life! We also enjoyed the Guinness Storehouse tour, walking through St. Stephen's Green and exploring Dublin Castle.

Sicily - September 2019

Last September we went to Sicily for a day trip where we went to Marzamemi for some delicious gelato, did a bit of shopping and explored Ortigia. I have been to Ortigia many times as it is a beautiful place. You may even remember a post I wrote in September 2017 about my 3-day visit to Ortigia and Syracuse

Munich - February 2019

Way back in February of last year, my mum and I went for a weekend in Munich. Going for a weekend away in February has been our little traditions in the past few years. In fact, I blogged about our visit to London in February 2017. Fortunately, this year we decided to skip booking a holiday and this was probably the best decision that we could have taken! I don't even want to think about what would have happened if we had actually booked after the virus started!

When in Munich we explored the streets of the city. Below you can see the Rathaus which is located in the main square called Marienplatz. We also visited Nymphenburg Palace which had the most beautiful wall and ceiling frescos in the grand hall. On one of the evenings, we decided to take a stroll by the river Isar and came across an absolutely stunning sunset.

The best part of our visit was going on a 3-hour journey to see Neuschwanstein Castle. I felt like I was in a scene from a fairytale with the castle in the middle of the snow-coated mountains. (This castle was the actual inspiration behind the Sleeping Beauty Castle in Disneyland!)

I hope you enjoyed this post as much as I enjoyed looking back onto the memories.

Where was the last place you travelled to?
